Greenish Sunday

Debra Parker put out a green photo challenge for the weekend. We went thrifting on Sunday all around town and I saw MANY green things, but my camera was taking a nap on my dining room table where, in the hustle and bustle to get ready to leave, I guess I placed it. I didn’t realize it wasn’t in my bag until we were on the highway. My speedlight and other accessories were in there, though! Oh well. My Project 365 photo for the day was taken late in the evening. It was an appropriate thrift find for the season.

ANYWAY, I made sure my camera was the first thing that went into my bag on Sunday. We spent most of the morning lazing around the house, then the afternoon was spent at Grandma Linda’s. The weather was beautiful for the first half of the day, then it got doomy gloomy. Here’s some of the green from my day:

1. green waffles from the Vietnamese bakery called Parisian. They’re the best waffles I’ve ever had. I don’t know why they’re green. Pistachios? just a random food coloring? *shrug*

Project 365 of 2011

Hola! I didn’t mean to start the year off as an inactive blogger. I feel like things got a little overwhelming at the end of 2010. You know what my favorite part of December was? Making all those hats for my family. Yep. I felt like it was a while since I actually made something meaningful.

Not to say I don’t put heart into everything my fingers create–I just hadn’t really felt it. You’re smart, I’m pretty sure you get it.

ANYWAY! I want to put thoughts behind my actions more often than I have in the past. I want to start feeling more. I want to feel and see and remember.

SO! Let me introduce you to my new Project 365. I finished one in 2009. I skipped last year, for whatever reason, and decided sometime late 2010 that I would pick it back up in 2011.

pyrex love

My little collection of vintage Pyrex. I had a few mixing bowls, but didn’t start letting myself buy more until we moved into our home. I have the space now, so I don’t feel so guilty about picking up a bowl I like. I have two sets of Cinderella mixing bowls (Butterprint and Autumn Harvest). They’re both 3/4 complete, which is interesting. My favorites are the mixing bowls on the left (first photo). As you can see, I’ve found quite a few in the same size. They stack very nicely and get a lot of use.

The newest addition to my glass housewares is this absolutely lovely cake stand I found, this weekend–

Is it not perfect for Valentine’s Day decor? It’s a 1984 Lillian Vernon stand and I’m in love with it.

I hope everyone is still sane. I’m wrapping up my gift-wrapping, this evening. All that’s left to be done is clean-up and baking. I’ll do most of that tonight, tomorrow morning, and tomorrow night. The afternoon/evening is reserved for the first of FOUR Christmas celebrations with family. We’re pretty blessed.

Greetings and a sale

I went to a cookie exchange and ended up being so full I could hardly look at my cookies when we were getting ready to leave. I consider that a successful party. Kudos to my aunt for totally decking the halls right. These ornaments hanging from the ceiling are the best. I couldn’t help taking a snapshot or two.

I ended up taking a combination of raspberry thumbprints and raspberry thumbprints covered in white chocolate ganache. Yeah, they were as good as they sound. The recipe is the same I’ve been using for the past couple of years. I can repeat it from memory, but I’ll just share the link. I skip the glaze. I’m just not too gung-ho about glaze.

Anyway! Did you know Christmas is next weekend??! Of course! I refuse to answer the question of whether or not I’m ready, or have done all my shopping, or have planned what, when, where, why we’ll do what we do. Let’s just enjoy these days. I have a 5 year-old who is off from school, so I’m going to be taking my vitamins, drinking my coffee, and trying not to let every little thing annoy the heck out me. I’m going to water my fuse and hope it grows.
