A Month of Craft Photos: Days 11-14

11;a work in progress
On the 11th, this was what I was working on. Willow in eggplant. It’s done now. It’s gorgeous. SO beautiful, my mom has requested she receive one of these in the same color, ASAP.

12;a crafty gift
a few things picked out by my son for his teacher. I wrapped them up for him.

13;inspiration indoors
Oh how I love the juxtaposition of metal, wood, and lace. This framed doily is one of my favorites. It’s got a hole in it I mended with some contrasting thread. I just couldn’t leave it alone. Also- I need to dust.

14;where I craft
I sit on that yellow chair to knit or crochet. This is my yarn corner. You can sort of make out my winder attached to the little table. It’s an orderly mess. I can get through it most days and I don’t see how it can be tidier. I go through the yarn pretty quick and then it just gets replaced.

9;challenging ///
two challenging things in this photo–
1. trying to come up with a simple border for this doily blanket. After crocheting and ripping numerous times, I settled on the simplest of all–single crochet.
2. sewing a heart-shaped pillow without that weird pucker in the middle. still haven’t conquered it. argh.

10;my craft bag /// A gingiber owl tote has been functioning as my craft bag, the past few weeks. Surprisingly, it mainly gets used for Cub Scouts supplies. Right now, it contains felt, buttons, and my embroidery box. At the next meeting, I’m going to teach those little Tigers how to sew a button.

I didn’t take a photo on the 4th because it was miserable outdoors. I took this one last week and I think it’s a beauty. The shapes of the leaves remind of hearts and scallops. ♥

Who loves felt tip pens? I DO! I spent some time doodling a new colorwork pattern. I was inspired by this absolutely gorgeous flying geese pattern. It’s not done and I still need to knit one up, but I’ll be sure to share when I get something made! I filled up a whole page by the end of the day.

A Month of Craft Photos: Day 3 [An old FO]

According to Ravelry, I finished this blanket in 15 days of April 2008. That’s right before this guy was born. It was the only blanket I crocheted for him and of course it still makes its rotation around the house–in my bed, in his, in the living room, dining room, etc. It even went with us when we evacuated during Hurricane Ike. One of my favorite Andrew-baby photos is of him on top of it in a wagon while we were staying at Grandma’s during the evacuation. He was so deliciously chubby. See?

So, yes. This is a nearly 4 year-old FO. Both the blanket and the baby.

A Month of Craft Photos: Day 2

I missed Day 2 because I was busy doing copious amounts of laundry. I washed all of my kiddo’s blankets only to have one of them (the littlest one) puke all over his bed in the middle of the night. Chunky, pink, smelly puke. I was being punished for missing this day, I KNOW IT. So…enjoy these extra shots! I love my hooks and needles. I only put in two sets of DPNs with my hooks because they were in the same jar. I should do this again with my knitting needles!
