Pattern: Bedfellows by Camilla Engman, in The Happy hooker
Yarns: Ella Rae Classoc, Ístex Álafoss Lopi (brown variegated)
Hooks: 5.0mm (H) and 6.5mm (K)
Mods: head- my stitch number went like this:
3, 6, 12, 24, 30, 30, 36, 42, 48, 54, 60, 66, then i switched yarns and did one even row, then i switched hooks and started the decrease part of the pattern (for the bunny head). I wanted it to have a flatter face and for the contrasting yarn (brown) to show up more from the front. limbs- I switched yarns right after increasing to 21 and crocheted 2 even rows, then i switched hooks and started the decreases.

I started this bear last night. finished the head, this morning. I only had 4 hours of sleep and didn’t even have any coffee! i’m on a roooooollll!
Anyway, this is another ‘Bedfellow’ from the pattern by by Camilla Engman, in The Happy Hooker.
I actually didn’t use the pattern for the first half of the head. Instead, my stitch number went like this:
3, 6, 12, 24, 30, 30, 36, 42, 48, 54, 60, 66, then i switched yarns and did one even row, then i switched hooks and started the decrease part of the pattern (for the bunny head). I wanted it to have a flatter face and for the contrasting yarn (brown) to show up more from the front.
p.s. I got the cup from the thrift store for 66 cents! it’s from the florist transworld delivery association, 1979.
p.p.s. I also got the yarn from the thrift store. Alafoss Lopi in a variegated brown. It was $1.50. score!
By Lisa Gutierrez on 09/11/2009 I finished knitting this, today. I left my yarn needle in Jason’s car (remember, I attached the bear’s limbs in the car on Sunday?), so I just left the ends hanging. I just HAD to take some photos, though.
I used this pattern, but I modified it a bit.
1.) I didn’t use seed stitch for the center portion or ribbing for the edges. 2.) I changed the cast-off number for the back-shaping. 3.) When knitting the back, I worked the last stitch of each row WITH the corresponding stitch from each of the sides. Does that make sense? It eliminated the back seams, but also left the ears open.
Next time, I’ll decrease at the center back edge, because it seems kinda…poofy, as is. pretty neat, though! I searched for a while for a hat pattern with pointy ears incorporated into the shaping. I’m going to figure out a way to make them taller next time. If I can accomplish that, it would resemble Max, from Where the Wild Things Are. See?
