My favorite border/edge is the Crab stitch (AKA reverse single crochet). It’s super easy and provides a nice neat border for your projects. I’m currently using it on Big Red. Yep, that’s right. I am on the border! After 4 rows of single crochet, I am crabbing it up.
1. How my work looks after my last round of single crochet + 1 ch.
2. Insert hook in stitch immediately to the RIGHT and pull yarn through (2 loops on hook).
3. Pull yarn through both loops.
4. Repeat 2-3.
After a few stitches, you should have a beautiful border going. I’ll be working on my edging this evening. I started it and then realized I should share it for the folks who are looking for a nice, simple border for their work. I’ll share photos of the finished blanket tomorrow. It’s sososo lovely! I am head over heels for RED.
What is/are your favorite border(s)/edging(s)??

I’m a huge fan of knitting, but this makes me want to start crocheting too!! really cute way to make a border, thanks for sharing! :)
This one is my favorite. It looks like a real border, like the ones on sopes.
Beautiful work! I also love the red! I actually started myself a green one! I am making a baby blanket. I am going to border it with brown.

My favorite edging? Picot. I picot almost all my blankets!
thanks for sharing!
I hopped on over and saw it. It looks great!
Well you inspired me to start my own “big red” however mine is going to be a “big maroon”. Even though it is a “baby” blanket it seems as this one will be destined for my family’s cottage since the rest of the adult “babies” in my family LOVE crocheted blankets (there are fights over them).
As for my favorite border, I don’t usually like borders…however, tonight as I was about to finish my current blanket (a large mesh wonderfully soft thing) that I had started putting a border on (1 row SC, 2 rows DC) I checked your blog saw this stitch and put it on as a finishing touch. And guess what! I loved it! So this is my favorite way to finish a border and I plan to use it on the next one!
That’s fantastic! Only my two babies fight over the blankets around here.
I’m glad you liked the border. :)
I love the crab stitch as an edging too! It’s so simple and it really finishes a project. I also love a simple shell edging for granny square blankets or a dubble V edging.
The red of your project is amazing!
Esther.
Look at you go! The red looks awesome. You can see my very slow progress on my Facebook page Baa-me Kniits :-)
I’ve never seen this kind of stitch! I like it; I’ll have to try it on my next baby blanket. :) Thanks for sharing!
I do not crochet much, but when you go to the RIGHT aren’t you going backwards??? Thanks
Thanks!! I have used this before but always need a refresher course. It look great when finished!!
It has a good meaning. If you always live positively, someday good things will happen. keo nha cai Let’s believe in the power of positivity. Have a nice day.
I’m impressed, I must say. Actually rarely can i encounter a blog that’s both educative and entertaining, and without a doubt, you could have hit the nail about the head. Your idea is outstanding; the thing is something that too few individuals are speaking intelligently about. We are delighted that we came across this around my try to find some thing with this. songbac
