I think this is probably my favorite photo of the year. Can you believe March is right around the corner? My birthday is next week! Or so my family keeps reminding me. I didn’t even know this was the last day of February! Why is this year going by faster than all the others? Slow down, 2011.
Anyway! I love love these bubbles. The theme at I Heart Faces this week is “Anything But a Face,” so I thought it would be perfect. You can include a face, but it doesn’t have to be the subject of your photo, which is a requirement in 99% of the themes. (duh)

Daddy left on his semi-annual business trip to Las Vegas, this morning. He goes twice a year and I still turn into Mopey McMoperson when he leaves. I think the boys just thought he was working really late. Thank goodness my family likes to keep these guys entertained. I’d be even more frazzled if I had to do it alone. They are electric. Always on! Always go! Always this! Always that! They go to bed when I tell them, though, so I will continue to just count my blessings and ignore the rest.
They were pretty colorful, today. Nathan is wearing purple Levi’s. The color was called ‘parachute’. I loved that! I found them and the purple Vans in the kids clearance section on kohls.com. I knew they’d be PERFECT for him because he loveloveloves purple. He’s always asking to wear these pants. I wish he didn’t get so dirty, because they are always getting thrown in the wash and I know they’re going to wear out really quick. I’m going to keep my eye out for extra pairs. I should have bought more!
I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend. I will be spending Valentine’s Day with my two sweethearts and lamenting yet another February 14th with my husband in a different state.

Okokok, it’s winter–I get it!
The weatherMEN in this dear city all had snow in their forecast for us, this morning! They closed the school district, declaring a snow day. My son was supremely excited! He even went to bed at his normal time in order to wake up early and frolick in the snow.
Alas, there was NO snow, this morning. Nada, zip, zilch. Oh, but don’t you worry your pants off, there was plenty of ice to entertain him for a bit. My sister didn’t have to work on account of the ice on highways, so she took him around the house, picking up frozen leaves and whatnot.
After breakfast, we got to work making Valentines for his classmates. I used the idea found here (via this February round-up of sorts on Smile and Wave) and we made enough for the whole class and his teacher. After we finished, I grabbed a blank sheet and started with lines. He added hearts. I wrote “love” in cursive, so he wrote it twice in his adorable handwriting. He outlined my hearts, I outlined his. It was a collaboration of the best kind.

I took this last weekend when we hung out at Grandma’s house. She brought out the bubbles and the kids played while I snapped away. Bubbles = fun, so there were a lot of smiles amidst the suds. That one up there just happens to be one of my favorites.

Since I’m mildly obsessed with shop-stitching (explained in this post) and I already had the word “christmas” stitched, I decided to put it on the outside of our Christmas card, this year.
I really love using kraft card stock for our cards. Actually, I like using kraft colored everything. It just adds a sort of rustic feeling to stuff. I used it for our cards last year, and even the year before! I think I’m going to commit, RIGHT HERE AND NOW, to using kraft card stock for every Christmas card I ever make.
Inside, I attached a little ornament for folks to hang on their tree. Oh the joys of getting this done early! People aren’t receiving them ON Christmas, like I’ve done in the past, so they can actually put it somewhere in their house. Oh! I hope everyone enjoys them.
The main event of the card, though? My kids, of course:
I gave up on getting “good” photos of my kids for the cards…ummm…the very first year! In fact, when my oldest was 6 months old and enjoying his first Christmas season, my mother in law and I sat him in front of her Chistmas tree with only a Santa hat on. And I do mean only! He was at the age, though, where his hands tended to migrate south A LOT, so he did his own covering up and there were no penises in my photos. HA! Those didn’t end up getting sent to family. they’re pretty hilarious, though. He was SO FAT.
The years since, pretty much every Christmas card I’ve made has had a subject making a face, sitting without pants, not paying attention, or just generally being themselves. I like it that way. This year, I gave them both a candy cane and sat them on my love seat. I sat across the room and just…snapped away. Voila! That up there is THEM. All the way down to Andrew pretty much INHALING his candy cane and Nathan savoring it.
I sent the cards out, this weekend. I passed them out to those who I see regularly, or would see this weekend. The rest are in the mail, sent out to family and friends whose addresses I have. If you don’t receive one, then this lady doesn’t know where you live! Consider this your e-card. :)
