I have a new appreciation for rain, since buying a home. Mother Nature waters my lawn and my plants. It makes me happy.

So, that ear problem I mentioned in my last post turned out to be an infection. I lasted until Wednesday morning and then HAD to see a doctor. He said there was a small infection in my left ear. By this time there was swelling on my neck, so I needed some help in the form of antibiotics. Wellll, it defintiely got worse before it got better. In fact, today is the first day I’ve woken up without pain. My right ear also ended up being infected and so I’ve been having a hard time hearing the past few days. They’re still pretty stuffy, today. I hope that they get back to normal before my prescription runs out. Because of my ear woes, I had no desire to do much of anything all week. No blogging, no crafting, no nothing. I just sat around being mopey and complained about my ears on Twitter (@goodknits). I think I’ll be better, this week. I started making some brooch bases last night and I have a little photo shoot idea in mind for them. I really want to go antiquing or something. I need to get outta here! I’ve finally gotten that energy I was seeking all week. I’ll leave you with this quick snap of my littlest getting his hair cut by Grandma, last weekend.  Don’t worry, ladies, she only trimmed it a bit. ;) I only gave Jason one thing for Father’s Day…  This t-shirt by the amazing Sammy Kaye. Sammy has been an internet friend for almost 10 years. She was one of the first people I gushed about Jason to. She’s a Michiginian, transplanted to Chicago, who just recently returned to the United States from a couple-month-stay in South Korea where she worked in a school with some freakin’ adorable kids. She blogged about her stay, complete with gorrrrrrrgeous photos, here. ANYWAY, I love me some Sammy art, so I snagged up one of her Buschemi-giraffe t-shirts the first day she put them on Etsy. Jason likes golden yellow shirts, so it was perfect! We also have a Bill Murray shirt in white, but I’m thinking I may need a blue one soon. Go check out her shop and give her some loooove!
Forgive my absence here and on Twitter. Yesterday was such a long day. So, emotionally exhausting I don’t think I’ve recovered yet. The rest of the week will consist of packing and moving. The house is close to Jason’s work (which is about 40 minutes away from where we live NOW), so he’ll be taking boxes with him every morning. We learned that if you remove the car seats and lower down the backseat, there is a plethora of room! He fit quite a bit of stuff back there. One time, he picked up a chair I found on craigslist. It’s a vintage La-Z-Boy rocker in golden yellow. It’s practically in mint condition! I can’t wait to show you. Also, my father has a truck, so he’ll be helping to take some big things. Basically, this is going to be a busy, busy, busy week! We’re all pretty jazzed. I’m going to start a list of things I want to do to the place. Then, we’ll scratch them as we can afford them. I am pretty sure there’s going to be a good chunk of DIY projects on the list, so please stick around if you know anything about do-it-yourself home improvement/decoration. I’m going to need some advice/tips! And a drill. Welcome to our new abode.  (First thing on our list may be to trim the bottom of that palm. Those dead fronds are not cute.) Today has been all sorts of awesome. Andrew actually slept in and so I got to putter around in the morning. After breakfast, he noticed my [naked] cupcakes on the table and promptly requested one. I couldn’t deny the birthday boy a cupcake, so I split it with him. He loved it. A little bit later, I frosted them and sent two on their way with my mom, who was picking up Nate at school, to give to his teachers. While we were waiting for Nate & Grandma to return, my sister and I took Andrew outside for some birthday photos with the cupcakes.  I told you they were pretty! I didn’t get a chance to get a photo of the insides, but believe me when I say they are awesome! It was a beautiful little surprise when you split it. Everyone who had one loved it. I can’t wait! I used this recipe as a general guideline to making them. My only tip would be to put only 1t of each color batter in the [baking] cups, instead of 2. You wouldn’t have enough batter to do 2 and they’d be huge with 10t of batter. One was sufficient! — |
