Vintage buttons

button brooches

I hope everyone survived Black Friday! I went to a craft store on Thanksgiving night and that was about as crazy as I got. On Friday, we just hopped around to various thrift stores. One of my favorite scores was a little bag of vintage buttons. I knew EXACTLY what I wanted to do with these.

You can find these little brooches in my shop. Don’t forget that everything ships for free to US & Canada and for a flat rate of $6 everywhere else. You can also use the coupon code THANKS2010 to receive 20% off your entire order! Coupon expires at the end of Cyber Monday (11:59pm CST on the 29th). Happy shopping!

My grumpy little tree says, “hello!”

CHRISTMAS IS COMING!

Giving thanks & a sale

Happy Thanksgiving to my American pals. Happy Thursday to the lovely rest of you.

My boys are all down for the count, so I’m slaving away in internet-land.

I’m thinking of the tradition we usually do at my aunt’s, right before Thanksgiving lunch. I’m sure many of you do the same–we each say one (or more) things we’re thankful for. Admittedly, this gives me anxiety. My palms get sweaty as the non-existent teddy bear gets passed around. I am generally shy, so opening up on that level, even with people who changed my diapers, makes my heart beat a little faster. I can ramble for pages on the topic of things I’m thankful for, but getting me to actually SAY the words…out loud…in a group setting…with hungry people…and kids… “well, hurry up already!”

ALRIGHT! So. I’m thankful for a few things, this year.

My family. Oh, my family. From the three boys I couldn’t live without to the extended group of people who just make this life easier (and/or harder). My beautiful kids, my hard-working husband, my worrying mom, my hilarious sister, my adoring father. I love them with words that my heart cannot even express.

My home. A house! After sharing a room for years, we now have space. We have a backyard. Ah, I love having a backyard.

Blogs. I have “met” so many kindred spirits all because of these wonderful little blogs. I am so thankful for this network of absolutely amazing and fascinating people. I never though I could feel so close to people so far. That means you. I am thankful for those who read and comment and connect with me….us! Thank you for the support, the encouragement, the inspiration.

To show my appreciation and because I KNOW there’s someone out there who is looking for something to keep their head warm this coming winter, how about a little Thanksgiving sale?

new doily colors

ornament colors

I’ve been crocheting like a maniac, the past few days. I finally got a few shots of the different color ornaments available in the shop. To celebrate, enjoy free shipping in the US & Canada on these sets. Shipping has also been discounted for everywhere else.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving (or plain ol’ Thursday). Me? I’ll be zipping across town, greeting family, making a mental list of the gifts I still need to make, and trying my best not to eat every single scrumptious food I see. It can be a problem. I should wear a dress, so I don’t have to worry about my pants fitting at the end of the night. Or maybe I’ll go in sweats. We’ll see! Either way, at the end of it all I’m sure to be filled to the brim with delicious, delicious love.

a goodknits package

goodknits package

So, you buy a slouch hat from the shop. This is what is inside the giant envelope at your door.

We’ve got:
-your slouch! it’s wrapped around a circle form made from a recycled cereal carton and Amy Butler designer paper.
-a thank you; now printed because my handwriting is just awful.
-a business card or two; spread the word of goodknits?
All wrapped up with some kraft wrapping paper and tied together with a vintage fabric bow, from which your complimentary doily snowflake ornament hangs!

Whew! The other items in my shop are also carefully packaged with some of the same fanfare. I like to use vintage fabric scraps or yarn to tie off my wrapped items. I hope it’s a feature you all like.

You might be jealous. I bought this set of magnets from One Pearl Button Studios, last week. They are even more beautiful in person! She has a craft fair this weekend, so there was limited availability on Etsy and I snagged this set up ASAP! I’m in love with the soft focus of the polaroids. They reside on this chalkboard and I pass them up every time I enter the kitchen.

Check out Alli’s shop and blog for lovely inspiration. The shop is filled with prints of her polaroids taken with the incomparable Polaroid SX-70.
