About

Welcome to the goodknits.com blog.

I am Lisa, mama to two boys. Nathan is 4 going on 13. He’s sassy, defiant, and loud. He’s also very funny and shy around new people. Andrew is my baby, born May 2008 on a sidewalk. He is responsible for the most amazing day of my life, thus far. He’s squishy, cute, and [usually] quiet. He’s not much of a talker, but he makes his needs known. Keeping me sane is Jason, daddy extraordinaire.

While I love to knit, I also crochet, sew, cross-stitch/embroider, and dabble in the paper crafts (card making, stamping, etc). I prefer making gifts over buying them.

Wool is my yarn-fiber of choice. My craft table looks like a craft bomb exploded overhead, and the floor underneath looks like it took the brunt of the disaster. I’m going to try to be more organized and neat, but it’s kind of hard when you have too little (or too much) space and two boys vying for your attention. At any given moment, I’m either:
1.) BREASTFEEDING
2.) knitting and BREASTFEEDING
3.) playing sudoku (avoiding house-work)
4.) playing sudoku and BREASTFEEDING.
5.) yelling, losing my mind, napping, or some other lazy-awful-mother thing.

My baby weighs almost 30 pounds, but still hasn’t gotten the memo: food is goooood! let’s hope he weans before college!

    Hey Lisa,

I’m enjoying checking out your blog and did not realize that you’re so crafty. Digging the photos too! Your “about” page may need a spring cleaning though ;)

My name is Brianna Butler. I live in KY and I worked ina residential treatment facility. The troubled youth there taught me to crochet, and I have been very interested in developing this skill sense. I LOVE YOUR BLOG!!!! AMAZING!! It’s so real, trendy, modern. Love it. I was wondering if you have patterns that you could pass on or explain HOW to create some of the cute baby items you have made. I have a 2 year old and four friends who are having babies and 2 friends who JUST had babies.

I would totally appreciate some helpr or direction!

    Thanks

I hear you! Substitute browsing craft blogs for sudoku, and my life is much like yours! I breastfed my first until just over 2, but wouldn’t have wished any different. But I would love to know how you can knit AND breastfeed…

It started with granny squares, I think. I was on Ravelry, then someone else’s blog, now your blog. It’s a blur, but I’m glad I found you. I love your pictures, projects, adorable kids. My own son is 24 and I’m glad of it, but the way you photograph and write about your boys takes me back to when he was adorably small. And need I mention that I knit, sew, quilt, paint, crochet, embroider … too? Like you, I don’t consider myself creative in these pursuits, just moved to make things by some unknown force.

I don’t add many blogs to my Bloglines these days, but I’ll be adding yours.

I was creepering around on my friend’s fb page one day and I saw her version of your MaryJane slippers and I was in love. I basically spent the next few days reading your blog and becoming COMPLETELY inspired. You lead such a fun and interesting life, and I love your crafts!!
