Day 22 & 23: Travel & 8 things you didn’t know

end of the world
old colonials
real snow

September, October, and November in Vermont, 2003.

1. I traveled to Vermont by Greyhound when I was 18. Alone. With 2 huge suitcases and a backpack. It took 3 days.

2. A few months later, I saw REAL snow for the first time. If it made me THAT happy at 18, I can’t imagine how sweet it would have been to experience as a kid.

3. I don’t drive.

4. I’m really terrible at bowling.

5. I’m creeped out by: insects, frogs, snakes, turtles, small rodents, etc. Pretty much anything that is alive and smaller than my hand–stay away from me. It’s hard being a mom to boys who revel in such things.

6. I don’t have a cell phone.

7. I can’t fry an egg without breaking it, but I can make a mean (re: delicious) quiche.

8. When I was 8, I was obsessed with drawing dinosaurs.

So Fawned 30 Days Hath November

  • Wow…You dont drive…I live in Florida would love to live in NH..I get tired of heat and wish to see snow in winter. Not my other half though. Living in Florida (moved here from NJ at 21) You see lizards all the time. Sometimes they even get in the house. Took a long time for me to get used to that. As for the phone..I wish oh how I wish I did not need one. I hate it! Very interesting post! Thanks for sharing.

    • I was born, raised, and live in Houston, TX. Snow is something I have fond memories of and would LOVE to have. IF I had to drive in it, though…I’d probably hate it. ha!

My husband has a cell phone, so if I’m going somewhere and I NEED to stay connected, I’ll steal his. That doesn’t happen too often. I find I can disconnect rather easily. Now, if someone put one in my hands and I could use it without having to pay, I probably wouldn’t mind. ;)

I don’t drive either. I don’t like cars, I don’t like traffic and most of all I don’t like depending on a car. I ride the bus, the bike and with friends. I didn’t have a cell phone for a long time either, maybe 3 years. At the end I thought I needed it. Today I know I didn’t and still don’t. I don’t know how to fix eggs. At all. I don’t like eggs so I never learned. I didn’t get to see snow until I was 27 I think. None of the thousand places I have lived at carried snow. I made a trip to Michigan a few years ago and saw the real deal. It was gorgeous but I imagine how terrible it would be to have it for so many months – without a car.

  • I traveled all the way from new york to los angeles in 2009 on the greyhound buses, it was an experience to say the least, haha. quite an adventure :)

I saw snow for the first time when I was 22. I absolutely loved it!!! Then on our second day in the snow Corey proposed so now the snow is even more special to me. I can’t wait to have kids and take them there for the first time.

  • Love this! :) And, yay! I don’t have a cell phone, either, and some people just look at me like I’m an alien when I say that. lol. Really, I don’t want one…I loathe them. I much prefer peace and quiet and face-to-face time. :)
