For the teacher who made my kiddo want to learn more and more. When my son started pre-kindergarten, last year, he was very nervous. He was the only one crying when we first walked in the door of his class. I had a moment where I thought, “I’ll just keep him home. This isn’t mandatory. I can probably teach him and blah blah blah.” I’m glad I didn’t. I am so so soo glad I didn’t. He LOVED school. He still does. He didn’t even get the concept of weekends and thought he could just mozy on up to campus on a Saturday. He didn’t take advantage of sleeping in and thus I couldn’t.
Anyway! What I’m trying to say is, I am so very thankful for my son’s teacher that year. She was the one who made learning fun and exciting. Who helped him pull all the stuff he knew together. The ABCs and their sounds into words. Numerals into math. And so on.
When she told me she was pregnant with her first baby, at the end of the school year, she asked if she could commission me to make a baby sweater. Pssssh! I would not take her money. No way, no how. It was the absolute least I could do. She’s due at the end of next month, so I finally pulled all these things and the doily blanket together into a little package. I made the sweater over the summer and the rest a few weeks ago. She’s having a girl, but tends to favor more gender neutral colors like greens and browns.
