OK, I admit it–there is something I will miss about summer. The growth.
![]() And voila! I have finally developed my own doily pattern. Please do not tell me it looks like a doily you’ve seen before. Just let me keep living my dream. It took a few days to develop and write it/crochet it, the first time. Then it took another day for me to test it myself. I watched 2 seasons of Buffy through out, taking breaks for super demon battles and lovesick vampire scenes. I fixed a few errors in my pattern and…I’m done with it! It’s been so satisfying. The pattern will be released in the fall (wompwomp, you have to wait!). I’ll have more details soon. ![]() I enjoyed this pattern development–and come on, the end result is a beauty, no?–so much, I’m already drafting a second one. It’s a little less intricate, so perhaps I can release it sooner. I’ll keep you posted! ![]() The boys and I got bored, so we braved the terrible heat for a while. I took photos of plants while they tried to stay out of the sun (the only negative about our big backyard is the lack of shade trees). I took my Lensbaby out with me. I use it when I want to torture myself. It’s a thrill, really. All the smushing of the bellows to find the sweet spot, the tilt-shift like focus, etc. You manually set the aperture (with aperture disks!) and figure out the shutter speed. It is amazingly fun. ![]() ![]() ![]() So, I’m in the midst of pattern writing and it can get a little overwhelming. When I find myself getting lost (get it?), I turn to mindless crochet. Enter my Ottoawesome part deux. I finished it up today and took a few minutes after dinner (homemade Chinese garlic chicken) and before school supply shopping to put my feet up. It was a fleeting moment, as evidenced by the blur. I quite like it, though. With this guy out of my way, though, you know what’s coming? All-consuming pattern-doneness! I can’t wait. I’m going into overdrive tomorrow. ![]() These are still my favorite shoes. I will wear them until they fall apart. It’s August! Summer is nearly over for us (though the heat won’t leave for a few more months) and so we are gearing up for the start of another school year. I will have a lot more time at the end of this month and I would love to get back into the habit of regular blogging. To move toward that, I’ve decided to participate in The August Break. . You can, too! Post a photo every day. That’s it. No other rules. I’ll [mostly] be posting photos from the prior day. |
