year of the brooch?

doily brooch TtV
through the viewfinder of my Duaflex II

My oldest child is spending a weekend with grandma. This leaves me with such anticipation of accomplishment for the next 2 days. Alas, I know better. I’ll probably just revel in the fact that only one child will be yelling at me for attention and hugs. I’ll spend it sitting on the couch, listening to the little one play with the absent son’s toys (alone! no fighting!), crocheting, with a stupid movie playing in the background. The place will still be messy Sunday evening when he returns and my basket of miscellaneous crafts will be fuller than it was Friday night. I’ll be ok with it.

I’m really into these brooches, lately. I suppose the appeal is in their size. They are so quick to make that I just keep making more and more. Almost-instant satisfaction. If I could bottle that feeling up, I’d be a millionaire.

This little doily brooch is currently residing on the collar of my red coat, which I’m using because of this little cold snap Houston just got. It adds some daintiness to my usually frumpy wardrobe. I’ll probably pin it to my t-shirts when this front passes through. They could use some pretty.
