I Heart Desserts!

I always want seconds. That’s how I remember how to spell the word. It’s true, though. Ask my gut.

If you’re friends with me on Flickr, you probably saw this photo, last week.
#4 on my 25 before 26 list was to try a new cupcake recipe each month. I JUST made the deadline, as it was already the last day of March. I made banana cupcakes. This isn’t the first time I’ve made these, but it is the first time I’ve shared a photo of them, so I’ll count it off my list.

cupcake a month.1: banana!

I’m not too big on frosting, so these were naked. The recipe (in 500 cupcakes, which was gifted to me by my awesome mother-in-law on Christmas) called for a cream cheese frosting. I think the reason I don’t usually frost my cupcakes (MUFFINS?!) is that I suck at making frosting. Maybe I should practice, this year. Perhaps by my next birthday, I’ll be able to successfully ice an entirely from-scratch cake.

Check out all the desserts entries at I ♥ Faces, this week. They will make you crave something sweet, even though it’s almost midnight, you’ve just brushed your teeth, and are all ready for bed. Perhaps that cheesecake in my fridge really did call my name, as I was walking down the hall. Perhaps…

Thank you. I thought the blue jar nicely contrasted the yellow cupcake wrapper.

why, thank you! I love blue glass jars.
And I know you didn’t ask, but I got the cupcake liners from Cupcake Social. They were a birthday present to myself. :)

  • I love the colors. I don’t like frosting either, don’t like making, and definitely don’t like eating it. I love this photo.

I’ve discovered the only frosting I TRULY love is the one my aunt makes. She made many of my birthday cakes growing up, so I think it has a lot to do with sentiment. THAT’S what frosting should taste like and everything else is just not right.

    A) I’m going to hop over and add your cute new button to my blog.

    B) A new cupcake every month? That sounds WAY fun.

    C) I’m not big on frosting either. Too much sugar does mean things to my body, but sometimes I let myself go and whip up a batch. Usually for birthdays, and even then we have way too much leftover, because I’ve scraped it off of my personal cakes, haha.

    D) I’m not sure why I chose to use the alphabet as my form of commenting.

thanks, Tia! I’ll put one of yours up, too. I haven’t gotten around to search around for all of my favorite blogs’ buttons. I’ll do that soon!

I’m excited about the cupcake a month challenge! I think I’m going to make some chocolate & chili-pepper cupcakes, this month. Should be interesting!

  • I absolutely love this picture. I still think you should try them with cream cheese frosting. Just thinking about it makes me wanna eat like 50 of them.

I really love banana in baked goods. banana solo, I’m not tooooo fond of. Usually because I always forget about them until they’re super ripe and brownish and those kinda freaks me out. They end up tossed into muffins, cakes, and smoothies.

thanks! I’d been wanting to incorporate than blue mason jar into a photo for a while. I thought it looked nice against the yellow of the cupcake liner.

    The banana cupcakes were delicious!
