It&#8217;s pretty simple and you can have a set made in under an hour, I bet. Below you will find instructions for both crochet or embroidered coasters. <\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/yarnattacks\/6964118630\/\" title=\"02supplies by Lisa | goodknits, on Flickr\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8018\/6964118630_0096ab7b4b_z.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"424\" alt=\"02supplies\"><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i>Supplies:<\/i><br \/>\n<b>4&#8243; x 4&#8243; cork squares<\/b> (I buy 12&#8243; cork tiles and cut them with a rotary cutter)<br \/>\n<b>standard hole punch<\/b><br \/>\n<b>DK weight yarn<\/b>&#8212; I used needlepoint wool, but any thin yarn will do<br \/>\n<b>2.75mm (C) hook<\/b> (increase the hook size if you use a thicker yarn, but make sure it fits through the holes)<br \/>\n<b>yarn needle<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"http:\/\/goodknits.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/template.jpg\">template<\/a><\/b>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/yarnattacks\/7110189469\/\" title=\"03step1 by Lisa | goodknits, on Flickr\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.staticflickr.com\/5076\/7110189469_ede136d31a_z.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"640\" alt=\"03step1\"><\/a><\/center><br \/>\nUse the template to punch holes evenly around the square.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/yarnattacks\/7110188535\/\" title=\"04crochet by Lisa | goodknits, on Flickr\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.staticflickr.com\/5456\/7110188535_20abd459b6_z.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"424\" alt=\"04crochet\"><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>If you crochet, attach the yarn at the center of one of the sides. Single crochet (US) around the coaster, making 5 single crochet stitches in the corners. Slip-stitch to the first SC to end. Optionally, you can slip-stitch through all holes, if you want to fill them (see yellow coaster in title image).<\/p>\n<p>If you haven&#8217;t yet picked up the craft of crochet, below is a simple embroidery stitch called the <i>blanket stitch<\/i>. <\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/yarnattacks\/7110187159\/\" title=\"blanket-stitch by Lisa | goodknits, on Flickr\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.staticflickr.com\/5321\/7110187159_485c732e88_z.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" alt=\"blanket-stitch\"><\/a><\/center><br \/>\n1. Insert needle from <b>back to front<\/b> through a hole. Bring through about 2 yards of yarn and leave about 10&#8243; hanging at the back.<br \/>\n2. Insert needle from <b>front to back<\/b> through the next hole, making sure to bring your needle through the loop created.<br \/>\n3. Pull snug against the edge of the coaster.<br \/>\n4. Repeat steps 2 &#038; 3 until you get to a corner.<br \/>\n5. At the corners, repeat steps 2 &#038; 3 twice more <b>in the same spot<\/b> (3 stitches in each corner).<br \/>\n6. When you come to the end, pull the rest of the yarn through the first loop, as shown in last image. <\/p>\n<p>Using the beginning &#038; end yarn, tie a knot and weave in the ends through the loops on the back.<\/p>\n<p>And that&#8217;s it!
