In the excitement, I forgot to grab a sheet on the way out to the backyard. You know, a sheet to protect his neck, shoulders, elbow joints, knees, underwear, etc. from little pieces of hair. D’oh! If you ever doubted my mother-of-the-year status……..!

Now, I need to figure out the plan for the baby’s hair. Oh, I love the shagginess of their heads, but gosh I do hate bath time. Yes, I’m probably the only parent in the world to say that, but I DO. I’ve never liked giving baths and the long hair just prolongs them. Andy’s hair is so fine, I think the clippers wouldn’t work. I may just have to start cutting with scissors and then try the clippers then. Any input? Cutting super fine hair at home with little to no skill? I hope a nice trim will get his strands to thicken up a bit.

I’m still trying to get used to some things, like: having a garage, the plethora of insects that exist, my kids having their own bedroom, not eating out every day, having a backyard to throw my kids into, etc. It’s fun!

I only just got internet service a few days ago, so it may take me a while to catch up with blogs. If anything super duper spectacular happened, please feel free to link a girl up! Thank you alllll for your kind comments of congratulations and whatnot. I really appreciate it. :)

While I was gone, two events took place. One: my cousin graduated from high school. Two: my oldest turned five. FIVE! CINCO! CINQ!

I made him a rainbow cake. He’s into rainbows right now. Ask him what color he wants to paint his room and he’ll reply with “rainbow.”

I made rainbow cupcakes for his birthday. He hasn’t seen them yet. I’m going to frost them right before we go to pick up his brother from school. I’ll try and get some photos and/or video while we sing that special song. It’s just [...]]]> Two years ago, today, we were rejoicing his birth on a sidewalk.

He’s growing up fast! Because I knew he’d hate the long drive and then the long ceremony, I timidly [...]]]> I should probably stop calling him my baby. He’s the youngest, though, so he might be stuck with the “baby” nickname for all eternity. Or until I’m brave enough to get pregnant again (oh, the VOMIT!).

He’s growing up fast! Because I knew he’d hate the long drive and then the long ceremony, I timidly suggested he stay with grandma while I went out of town. Afterall, daddy was going to take Nathan to his first baseball game and I knew Andy wouldn’t really like that.

It took a bit, but we solidified our plans and I kissed his sleeping face goodbye, early Saturday morning. Later that afternoon, he got dropped off at grandma’s.

And we never heard from him again.

I KID! To my complete and utter surprise, he did wonderfully! Nary a fuss! In fact, when we went over early Sunday afternoon, he was happily riding a bike in the driveway. I asked if he wanted to go and he kinda pulled back. As if to say, “no way, Jose. I’m at Grandma’s!” Alas, we had plans to go to Grandpa’s, so we had to head out pronto. With promises of a prompt return, I buckled him up and off we went for a few hours.

I’ll have you note, it was now over 24 hours since he last nursed! Pretty amazing. We spent a few hours at Jason’s dad’s, where I smelled a magnolia for the first time.

My father-in-law got a ladder out and plucked this from his tree. It smelled amazing! A clean, lemony, floral scent.

We headed back to grandma’s in the early evening. We had dinner, opened gifts, played, etc.

I arrange about 6 bookmarks, place the supplies in their own little baggies, then start crocheting them off. It’s a nice little set up. I haven’t lost anything yet, so that’s a plus.

My baby turns TWO in TWO WEEKS! ah! This weekend, my cousin graduates college, so my mom and I are taking a little road trip to attend the ceremony. Daddy will stay behind with the boys. He’s taking the big one to his very first baseball game and the little one might (!!!) spend the night (!!!!) with grandma!!! That would mark 2 off of my 25 before 26 list in one day! Ah! I’m not sure I’m ready, though J says Andrew could totally handle it.

Yesterday was a pretty horrible day. Nothing happened, but I didn’t feel right at all. I felt completely uninspired on every front–crafts, photography, Etsy, etc. Today, though, I had some coffee and a good breakfast and I think I’ve redeemed myself. I have done the following:

-crocheted new bookmarks for the shop
-crocheted an apron
-taken the kids on a walk to the park
-browsed a garage sale
-took photos on park trip
-watched two episodes of The Vampire Diaries (newest guilty pleasure; my sister and I got sucked in. Ha! See what I did there?)
-finished compiling a photo book

Add all that to a PB&J lunch and getting the littlest one to nap alone and I’d say today was about 210% better than yesterday.

That boy right there has found his courage. He tried to climb anything with a rung for him to hang on to. Ladders, slides, jungle gyms, etc. When he couldn’t quite climb the jungle gym (blame the short arms and legs), he started eating it…

He was trying to climb it to get to daddy, who was perched up top. It was a pretty big domey jungle gym. Not even the big one could get up on his own.

Speaking of the big one; he’s turning five, this June. FIVE! I thought the day would never come. All those long nights I wished he would just grow up already! and now he’s turning FIVE and I want him to be tiny again. He’s sassy and talks back. His hair is always a mess. His room is always a mess. He says big words and he scolds ME when I interrupt him.

But.
He’s also smart. He tells ridiculous jokes and dances like a crazy-person. He lets me win card games and take his picture. He was the first.
