brown bear, brown bear, what do you see?

365.256: cup of crochet

I started this bear last night. finished the head, this morning. I only had 4 hours of sleep and didn’t even have any coffee! i’m on a roooooollll!

Anyway, this is another ‘Bedfellow’ from the pattern by by Camilla Engman, in The Happy Hooker.

I actually didn’t use the pattern for the first half of the head. Instead, my stitch number went like this:
3, 6, 12, 24, 30, 30, 36, 42, 48, 54, 60, 66, then i switched yarns and did one even row, then i switched hooks and started the decrease part of the pattern (for the bunny head). I wanted it to have a flatter face and for the contrasting yarn (brown) to show up more from the front.

p.s. I got the cup from the thrift store for 66 cents! it’s from the florist transworld delivery association, 1979.

p.p.s. I also got the yarn from the thrift store. Alafoss Lopi in a variegated brown. It was $1.50. score!

    hi
i am in desperate need of some advice to start these bedfellows. I have the Happy Hooker pattern and have been trying to start them for ever but keep getting in knots and need to unravel each time.
Can you offer any advice on how to get started and does it get easier?
    Thanks!
